Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize for Science and Technology in Medical Science

This medical-sciences category of the Shanti Swarup Bhatnagar Prize recognises an Indian researcher for outstanding clinical, biomedical, or public-health work, one of seven fields the award spans alongside biology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, engineering, and earth sciences. Established in 1958 by CSIR and named after the organisation's first director, eligibility is limited to citizens under forty-five whose honoured research was conducted in India over the preceding five years. Subject-expert panels shortlist nominees before a final CSIR decision, announced each year on September 26th, CSIR Foundation Day.
