The Padma Vibhushan is the second-highest civilian award of the Republic of India, after the Bharat Ratna. Instituted on 2 January 1954, the award is given for "exceptional and distinguished service". All persons without distinction of race, occupation, position or sex are eligible for these awards.

India's second-highest civilian honor has recognized eminent figures since 2021, including tabla maestro Zakir Hussain (2023), architect B. V. Doshi (2023, honored the day after his death), actor-dancer Vyjayanthimala and actor Chiranjeevi (2024), mathematician S. R. Srinivasa Varadhan (2023), former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu (2024), Sulabh International founder Bindeshwar Pathak (2024, posthumous), and veteran actor Dharmendra (2026, posthumous). Awardees span arts, science, medicine, and public affairs. As this decade runs through 2030, only the 2021-2026 Republic Day lists are finalized; recipients for 2027 onward remain unannounced, leaving the roster still incomplete.
